Ironically enough, I just noticed that Zrharc has word verification required for posting new entries also, not just for comments. Is this something that you set up, Stan, or did blogger do that because we are suspected as a "Spam Blog" (as they said on their help page).

This is a good thing! It just gives us more inspiration for zrharc entries! I've been keeping an open Word document with all the words I want to post eventually.

I posted all this as a comment because I didn't want to mess with our fabulous dictionary format of this blog by posting a non-definition entry! :-)

I'm not sure why it's giving us the extra layer of security, but I'll sometimes find myself just opening a new post and using that word as the word to define.

i like the extra layer of security for all of the reasons previously listed. plus, i figure it put that on there in case somehow a spammer got added to our authors list. this way there can't just be random postings (not like ours aren't already random!)

I don't think it's possible for a spammer to be added to the authors list, because one of us would deliberately have to invite them.

I did send a petition to the Blogger people to look at the blog to prove that we're not spammers; if they approve, they'll remove the extra word verification.

I don't mind the extra word verification step. Of course, I don't post on here nearly as often as others (because I worry I'm not funny enough!).

Actually, it's like this funny "karma" (in quotes because I don't believe in karma) thing that a blog devoted to word verification is required by blogger to verify words.

I suppose if it's taken down, we could petition Blogger to re-instate it. That'd get them to look at the blog a second time, and maybe they'd link it in their Blogs of Note section (hello, traffic!) :)
